Seville, the capital of Andalusia, is best explored through its historic centre, home to its principal monuments. The Real Alcázar, a Mudéjar palace with remarkable gardens, and the cathedral topped by the Giralda tower are the essential visits, often combined with a single ticket granting access to other museums in the city. The Santa Cruz quarter, with its narrow whitewashed streets, is ideal for strolling, while Triana, on the other side of the river, is reached via its emblematic bridge and retains a more local, working-class atmosphere. Plaza de España, with its grand architecture and canals, borders Parque de María Luisa, a green space valued for its shaded avenues.
