Aigues-Mortes

Aigues-Mortes, in the Gard department, is known for its fortified old town, entirely enclosed by medieval ramparts that remain free to enter for under-26s. Wandering through the historic centre reveals narrow streets, squares and the distinctive architecture of this royal bastide founded by Saint Louis.
