Valle di Non

Valle di Non is a valley in Trentino, northern Italy, well known for its apple production under the Val di Non DOP label, one of the most significant in Europe. The landscape features terraced orchards, traditional villages and hills overlooked by the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is home to several medieval castles, including Castel Thun, a restored historic residence open to visitors, as well as Castel Nanno and Castel Valer. Lake Tovel, once famous for its reddish waters caused by micro-organisms now extinct, remains a popular natural spot for walking and enjoying the quiet alpine surroundings. The Predaia plateau offers trails suitable for all seasons, with views across the valley. Local cuisine highlights regional produce, particularly fresh apples and those turned into jams and strudels, alongside mountain cheeses. The climate, mild in summer and cold in winter, supports a range of activities from mountain biking to snowshoeing. The valley retains an authentic rural character, away from major tourist crowds.
