Gambassi Terme

Gambassi Terme is a small town in Tuscany, in the province of Florence, nestled in the Val d'Elsa amid the hills separating the Elsa and Era valleys. It takes its name from the sulphurous waters feeding its thermal baths, used for their therapeutic properties since ancient times. The village is also known for having been, for centuries, a centre of craftsmanship producing combs from horn and bone, a tradition commemorated by a local museum dedicated to this trade. Gambassi Terme lies along the historic route of the Via Francigena, the ancient pilgrim way linking Canterbury to Rome, making it a popular stop for walkers and cyclists. The surrounding landscape, typical of the Tuscan countryside, alternates vineyards, olive groves and woodland, providing a peaceful setting ideal for walking and agritourism. Its location makes it easy to reach nearby towns such as San Gimignano, Volterra and Certaldo.
