Le Muy

Le Muy is a town in the Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, located between Fréjus and Draguignan at the foot of the Maures massif. The village sits in a strategic position within the Argens valley, surrounded by vineyards producing Côtes de Provence AOC wines. The town is historically notable for its role in the Provence landings of August 1944, when Allied paratroopers dropped nearby to secure inland access routes; a memorial commemorates this event. Le Muy aerodrome now hosts sport parachuting activities, drawing enthusiasts from across the region. A few kilometres away lies Lake Saint-Cassien, popular for swimming, fishing and watersports. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, supports outdoor activities for much of the year. Le Muy also serves as a convenient base for exploring the Var coastline, including Fréjus, Saint-Raphaël and the Saint-Tropez peninsula, while offering a more rural, wine-growing atmosphere compared with the surrounding coastal resorts.
