Santa Eulàlia des Riu

Santa Eulària des Riu sits on Ibiza's east coast and is known for the Riu de Santa Eulària, the only permanent watercourse in the Balearic Islands, which runs through the town towards the sea. The historic Puig de Missa quarter, with its whitewashed fortified church set on a hillside, overlooks the bay and marina below. The seafront promenade runs alongside sandy beaches and is lined with restaurants, cafés and shops. Nearby, the village of Es Canar hosts the well-known Punta Arabí hippy market every Wednesday, a legacy of the counterculture movement that shaped the island from the 1960s onwards. Smaller coves such as Cala Llonga and Niu Blau are popular for family-friendly swimming. The Ses Feixes wetlands, a traditional irrigated farming area, reflect the region's rural heritage. Quieter than Ibiza Town or Sant Antoni, Santa Eulària remains well connected, lying around fifteen kilometres from the capital and the airport, making it a convenient base for exploring the rest of the island.
