Lapte

Lapte is a village in the Haute-Loire department, within the Velay area of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Perched on the Velay plateau at an altitude of around 900 metres, it enjoys a semi-mountainous climate, with mild summers and more pronounced winters, typical of this part of the Massif Central. The rolling, rural surroundings, dotted with meadows, woodland and small hamlets, make it a popular base for walking and mountain biking, both common pursuits on this volcanic plateau. Its proximity to Yssingeaux, Monistrol-sur-Loire and the Saint-Étienne conurbation makes it easy to explore more urban areas while still enjoying the tranquillity of the Haute-Loire countryside. Le Puy-en-Velay, the departmental capital known for its cathedral and volcanic scenery, is also within reasonable reach. The region has a strong farming and pastoral heritage, with local specialities such as Auvergne cheeses and cured meats. A stay in Lapte suits those who appreciate nature, open landscapes and countryside tourism, away from the busier tourist trail, in a still largely unspoilt corner of the Massif Central.
