Lubomierz/Gryfow Slaski

Lubomierz and Gryfów Śląski are two small towns in Lower Silesia, in south-western Poland, on the edge of the Karkonosze and Izera Mountains. Lubomierz is chiefly known as the filming location for the beloved Polish comedy classic 'Sami swoi' (Our Folks), earning it the nickname 'the capital of Polish humour'; a monument to the film's characters Kargul and Pawlak, along with a small museum, pays tribute to this legacy, and the town hosts an annual comedy film festival. Gryfów Śląski, a little further south, lies along the banks of the Kwisa river and retains a modest historic centre with buildings reflecting its former textile industry. The surrounding countryside, hilly and wooded, is popular for hiking and cycling, with the spa town of Świeradów-Zdrój nearby. The climate is temperate continental, with cool winters well suited to outdoor pursuits in the neighbouring mountains. Together, these towns offer a quiet, rural setting away from major tourist routes, ideal for peaceful stays amid Silesian countryside.
