Eze

Perched on a rocky outcrop between Nice and Monaco at an altitude of 429 metres, Eze is a medieval village on the French Riviera overlooking the Mediterranean. Its narrow cobbled lanes, lined with stone houses dating back to the 14th century, wind up to the village summit, where the Jardin Exotique features cacti and succulent plants alongside sweeping views over the sea and surrounding hills, stretching as far as Corsica on a clear day. The village also preserves the remains of a feudal castle, along with several art galleries and craft shops housed in former workshops. Nearby, the Fragonard perfumery offers tours of its production facilities. The coastal area, Eze-Bord-de-Mer, has beaches and coves, connected to the hilltop village by the Nietzsche Path, a steep trail once walked by the philosopher himself. Eze lies along the Moyenne Corniche, the scenic road linking Nice and Monaco, making it a popular stop for exploring the Nice hinterland. The mild Mediterranean climate, pleasant throughout the year, makes it well suited to walking and admiring the Provençal architectural heritage.
