Courchevel le Praz

Courchevel le Praz, a village resort located at 1,300 metres above sea level, serves as the historic starting point of the Courchevel ski area, one of the largest in the world thanks to its inclusion in the Three Valleys. This village retains traditional Savoyard architecture with its wood and stone chalets, offering a more authentic and family-friendly atmosphere than the higher levels of the resort (Courchevel 1650, 1850). Le Praz is notably home to the ski jumps built for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, still used for international competitions today. The Saint-Bon church and its distinctive bell tower reflect the local heritage. In winter, the Olympic ski jump and slopes accessible from the village attract skiers and winter sports enthusiasts, whilst summer offers opportunities for mid-mountain walking with views over the Vanoise massif. The proximity to the surrounding forest and unspoilt natural setting make this village a popular choice for a human-scale mountain stay, combining access to the Three Valleys' infrastructure with relative tranquillity compared to the area's more upmarket and bustling resorts.
