Flaine Hameau

Flaine Hameau is one of the two residential districts of the Flaine ski resort in Haute-Savoie, sitting at around 1,600 metres in the Giffre massif. Designed in the 1960s by architect Marcel Breuer, the resort is notable for its modernist concrete architecture, a style sometimes described as brutalist and recognised for its distinctive character. Flaine Hameau offers a more intimate setting than Flaine Forum, with human-scale buildings built into the mountainside. The resort forms part of the Grand Massif ski area, one of the largest in Haute-Savoie, linked to the villages of Samoëns, Morillon, Les Carroz and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, giving access to an extensive network of pistes for all levels. The resort also features contemporary artworks, including sculptures by Picasso and Vasarely, displayed throughout the public spaces. The nearby Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval nature reserve provides opportunities for summer walking and hiking.
