Flaine Foret

Flaine Forêt is one of the residential districts of the Flaine ski resort in Haute-Savoie, France, sitting at around 1,600 metres above sea level. Built in the 1960s by architect Marcel Breuer, the resort is notable for its Bauhaus-style concrete architecture, now recognised for its heritage value. Flaine forms part of the Grand Massif ski area, one of the largest in France, linking several resorts including Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, with over 265 kilometres of pistes. The Flaine Forêt area, quieter and more wooded than the resort's central hub (Flaine Forum), is particularly suited to families seeking easy access to the slopes while staying away from the busier commercial centre. Surrounded by pine forests and limestone cliffs, the mountain setting is popular year-round, offering hiking, mountain biking and via ferrata during the summer months. The resort is reached via Cluses, the main gateway town in the Arve valley. The alpine climate generally ensures reliable snow cover from December through to April.
