La Clusaz

A Savoyard village nestled in the heart of the Aravis mountain range in Haute-Savoie, La Clusaz is popular both in winter and summer for its varied mountain scenery. Hiking is central to the area, with routes including a circular walk around the village, a trail to Lac des Confins, and a more demanding hike to Lac de Peyre, where chamois, ibex, bearded vultures and griffon vultures can sometimes be spotted along the way. The cable cars, running during the summer season, allow visitors to gain altitude quickly and take in sweeping views over Mont Blanc and the Aravis range. The nearby Col des Aravis and the road towards Col de l'Arpettaz are known for the abundance of marmots often seen along the route. Col de Beauregard offers another well-regarded walking option. The proximity of Lake Annecy and Lake Geneva, with the village of Yvoire, makes for enjoyable day trips, alongside summer activities such as the summer luge or paragliding above Lake Annecy. For dining, Bistrot les 2 Mulles is worth noting, along with a traditional Savoyard fondue, a regional speciality not to be missed.
