Vienna district 10

Favoriten, Vienna's tenth district, is the most populous in the Austrian capital and has long been a working-class, multicultural area. It lies south of the city centre, close to Vienna's main railway station (Hauptbahnhof), opened in 2015, and features dense residential zones combining older tenement buildings with modern developments. Reumannplatz forms the commercial and social hub of the district, lined with markets and local shops that reflect its diverse population, including significant Turkish and former Yugoslav communities. The Böhmischer Prater, a modest former amusement park, and the extensive Kurpark Oberlaa, with its thermal baths and gardens, provide green spaces for relaxation. Favoriten is well served by public transport, with several underground and tram lines offering quick access to the historic city centre, usually within fifteen minutes. Long associated with industry and social housing, the district has seen gradual urban regeneration around the Hauptbahnhof area, bringing new residential quarters and office developments. Overall, Favoriten remains an authentic, everyday Viennese neighbourhood, largely away from the city's typical tourist routes.
