St-Sorlin d'Arves

Saint-Sorlin d'Arves is a village in the Savoie region of the French Alps, located in the Maurienne valley at the foot of the Arves massif, at an altitude of around 1,550 metres. It forms part of Les Sybelles ski area, one of the largest in France, offering extensive alpine skiing as well as cross-country routes in winter. The village has retained a traditional character, with wooden chalets and a church typical of the hamlets found throughout the Arvan valley. Nearby lies the Col de la Croix de Fer, a mountain pass popular with cyclists and occasionally featured in the Tour de France, offering sweeping views over the surrounding peaks. In summer, the resort serves as a starting point for hiking and mountain biking, with trails leading to high-altitude pastures and lakes, including Lake Saint-Sorlin. The area is also known for its Savoyard cheese production.
