Tignes le Val Claret

Located at the foot of the Grande Motte glacier, Val Claret is one of Tignes' highest districts, offering direct access to the slopes and the ski area linking the Tignes and Val d'Isère glaciers. The funicular railway leading to the Grande Motte peak, at 3,500 metres, provides year-round access to the high-altitude ski area. Thrill-seekers can take the Leissière chairlift or head out for downhill mountain biking and hiking across the surrounding summits. Lake Tignes, a twenty-minute walk from Val Claret, is ideal for scenic walks and, in winter, for snowmobile rides across the frozen lake to Tignes Le Lac, where yurt and sledging evenings are sometimes organised. The Pass'y Tignes gives access to a wide range of activities, including the Gouille de Salins. For a meal, la ferme des 3 Capucines serves traditional Savoyard cuisine well regarded by visitors. The Aiguille Percée remains an iconic viewpoint in the area, offering sweeping views over the valley and surrounding mountain ranges.
