L'Estartit

L'Estartit is a seaside resort on the Costa Brava, in the province of Girona, known for its long sandy beach and its proximity to the Medes Islands, a small archipelago classified as a marine reserve just off the coast. These rocky islets rank among the top diving and snorkelling spots in the western Mediterranean, drawing sailors and underwater enthusiasts keen to explore marine life that is notably rich for the region. The town centre, lively during the season, is packed with shops, bars and terraces, including Beach Bar Sanchez, as well as a tattoo studio, Tribal Tattoo, for those wanting a more lasting souvenir. Stopping for ice cream after a dive is something of a local ritual. A few kilometres south, the coves of Palamós offer quieter alternatives, with calm waters tucked between rocks, typical of the Catalan coastline. L'Estartit retains a family-friendly, nature-oriented atmosphere, combining hikes towards the Montgrí massif, water sports and seaside relaxation, away from the buzz of some of its more touristy neighbours.
