Tignes le Lac

Tignes le Lac, a resort within the Espace Killy ski area in Savoie, is built around its lake, a central landmark in both summer and winter. In the cold season, the frozen lake hosts dog-sledding outings and igloos, while the Grande Motte glacier allows skiing for much of the year. In summer, the area offers numerous hiking routes: the climb to La Tovière, with a 600m ascent up to 2,700m, extending towards the Col de Fresse, a walk around the Aiguille Percée, the Voile de la Mariée trail, or the more demanding ascent of the Aiguille de la Grande Sassière, rewarding walkers with sweeping views over the Alps. Summer mountaineering, canyoning, horse riding and the lake's water sports base round out the outdoor offering. The village of Val Claret, reached by cable car, is also worth a visit. For relaxation, a wellness area with a lagoon is available on site. On the food front, the bakery next to the Sherpa supermarket is popular for breakfast, while La Ferme des 3 Capucines restaurant serves local produce.
