Grand Bornand Chinaillon

Chinaillon is the higher-altitude hamlet of Le Grand Bornand, a resort in Haute-Savoie nestled within the Aravis mountain range, around thirty kilometres from Annecy. Sitting at roughly 1,300 metres, this mountain village retains traditional Savoyard chalet architecture and offers direct access to the ski area linking Le Grand Bornand with Chinaillon, well suited to families and also home to a cross-country skiing area. In summer, the valley becomes a starting point for walking and mountain biking, with numerous trails leading up to the surrounding alpine pastures, where farming and cheese-making traditions continue, most notably the production of farmhouse Reblochon, a speciality closely associated with the area. The setting remains defined by an unspoilt mountain environment of meadows, forests and the peaks of the Aravis. Proximity to La Clusaz and the Annecy basin also makes it possible to combine a mountain stay with a visit to Lake Annecy. Chinaillon appeals through its authentic character and quiet atmosphere, while still benefiting from the wider tourist infrastructure of Le Grand Bornand.
