S'Agaro

S'Agaro is a small residential resort on the Costa Brava, forming part of the municipality of Castell-Platja d'Aro in Girona province. Developed from the 1920s under an urban plan commissioned by Josep Ensesa and designed with architect Rafael Masó, it is notable for its Noucentista-style villas set among pine trees along steep cliffs. A stretch of the Camí de Ronda coastal path runs through the area, linking Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Platja d'Aro and offering views over the sea and surrounding coves. The fine sandy beaches of Sa Conca and Sant Pol are among the most popular in the area. The Hotel La Gavina, opened in 1932 and still operating today, is a historic property known for having welcomed an international clientele over the decades. The Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild winters, favours outdoor pursuits, coastal walking and watersports. Its proximity to Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Palamós also makes it a convenient base for exploring the wider Baix Empordà region.
