Calonge

Calonge is a town on the Costa Brava, in the province of Girona, combining a medieval inland core with the lively coastal area of Sant Antoni de Calonge. The latter is the destination's main seaside draw, with a sandy beach ideal for relaxing and enjoying water sports such as jet skiing. The surrounding coves, wilder and better preserved, are well worth exploring on their own: they offer clear waters and scenery typical of this stretch of the Catalan coastline, away from the bustle of larger resorts. For families or thrill-seekers, a water park is located in Sant Antoni de Calonge, and a bowling alley is also available locally, rounding out the leisure options. Those after a livelier nightlife or more entertainment tend to head to the nearby resorts of Platja d'Aro or Lloret de Mar, both an easy drive away. With its Mediterranean climate, rocky coves and sandy beaches, Calonge makes a pleasant base for combining relaxation, water sports and day trips to neighbouring Costa Brava towns, while offering a quieter setting than the region's major tourist hubs.
