Altea

Altea, on the Costa Blanca, is known for its old town of whitewashed lanes and its famous viewpoint, El Balcón del Mediterráneo, overlooking the Mediterranean from the historic centre. The wide seafront promenade, characteristic of the Costa Blanca, is ideal for a stroll with sea views. In the town centre, a small ceramics shop reflects local craftsmanship. Nearby, the Algar waterfalls and natural reserve provide a scenic setting for kayaking trips, offering striking views of the coastline from the water. Llevante beach, right by the town, completes the seaside offering. Close by, Calpe charms visitors with its coves and iconic rock, while the Aqualandia water park is popular with families. La Vila Joiosa, with its colourful façades, and Alicante further south are also worth a visit - in Alicante, the tapas bar Nomad is well regarded for its carefully prepared food and welcoming atmosphere. Valencia, roughly 1.5 hours away by car, makes for a good day trip. Altea thus combines coastal heritage, nature and Mediterranean gastronomy in a setting typical of the Costa Blanca.
