Arc 1600

Arc 1600 is the original resort of Les Arcs, in the French Savoie region, built in the late 1960s in a distinctive architectural style set into the mountainside. It serves as one of the gateways to the extensive Paradiski ski area, linked to La Plagne via the Vanoise Express cable car. From here, visitors can easily reach the other villages of the resort, notably Arc 1950, a more recently built settlement designed in a traditional Savoyard style with timber façades and shingle roofs, pleasant to explore away from the slopes. Keen skiers head for the Aiguille Rouge, a peak rising above 3,200 metres that offers sweeping views over the Mont Blanc massif and the Vanoise range, and serves as the starting point for long descents. Nearby, the hamlet of Rosuel marks the entrance to its namesake valley, on the edge of the Vanoise National Park: a hiking trail winds through landscapes of mountain streams, waterfalls and traditional alpine chalets, leading up to Lac de la Plagne. The surrounding mountain setting, combining forests and pastures, adds to the appeal of a resort primarily geared towards skiing and outdoor life.
