Treboul

Treboul is a seaside district of Douarnenez, in Finistère, Brittany, separated from the town centre by the Port-Rhu and linked by a bridge. The area grew up around its marina and the Sables Blancs beach, popular for swimming and water sports such as sailing and paddleboarding. The poet Max Jacob stayed here for extended periods, notably at the Ty Mad hotel, and this literary connection still shapes the district's character. Treboul offers a typical Cap Sizun maritime setting, with a seafront well suited to strolling and a generally quieter atmosphere than central Douarnenez. The surrounding region invites excursions to some of Finistère's most striking natural sites, including the Pointe du Raz, one of Brittany's most spectacular headlands, renowned for its sheer cliffs battered by the Atlantic and sweeping views over the Iroise Sea. The area around Treboul also gives access to rocky coves and the coastal GR34 footpath, providing a direct route into the unspoilt scenery of the Finistère coastline.
