Deauville

Deauville, a well-known seaside resort in Calvados on the Côte Fleurie, is known for its fine sandy beach lined with the famous boardwalk, its colourful parasols and its elegant atmosphere. The town centre is ideal for long strolls, as is the harbour and its shopping streets. Local highlights include the racecourse and casino, both renowned for their lively atmosphere, along with the Villa Montebello for those interested in local heritage. Watching a polo match is also a typical activity in the resort. For breakfast or meals, the Hibouville in Deauville is a well-regarded spot. From Deauville, numerous day trips are easy to arrange: Trouville-sur-Mer with its Sunday market, Honfleur with its picturesque harbour, the cliffs of Étretat, the D-Day landing beaches, and Caen with its war memorial. Nature lovers can also visit Cerza Zoo, about thirty minutes away, or admire the Vaches Noires cliffs in Villers-sur-Mer. Combining beach life, Norman heritage and local gastronomy, Deauville makes an excellent base for exploring the whole of the Côte Fleurie, whether on foot, by car or by bus.
