Figari

Figari is a small town in the south of Corsica, in the Corse-du-Sud department, just a few kilometres from Bonifacio and Porto-Vecchio. Nestled among Mediterranean scrubland and granite hills, the village is best known for its airport, Figari-Sud Corse, which serves the whole of southern Corsica. The surrounding area is renowned for its vineyards, particularly the Figari appellation, one of the island's oldest AOCs, producing red, white and rosé wines typical of the local terroir. The nearby coastline features clear-watered coves and beaches, popular for swimming, diving and watersports, while the hinterland offers walking trails through scrubland dotted with holm oaks and olive trees. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, makes the area well suited to outdoor activities from April to October. Figari serves as a convenient base for exploring southern Corsica, combining unspoilt natural surroundings, local specialities such as Corsican cold meats and cheeses, and easy access to iconic sites like Bonifacio and its limestone cliffs.
