La Plagne Montchavin

Montchavin, a traditional Savoyard hamlet within the La Plagne ski area, is known for its authentic wood-and-stone alpine architecture typical of mountain villages. Set at a lower altitude, it offers direct access to the Les Arcs ski area via the Vanoise Express cable car, making it easy to reach Arc 2000, well known for its luge run enjoyed in both winter and summer. From Montchavin, visitors can also head up to Belleplagne, a higher-altitude resort within the La Plagne massif situated above 2,000 metres, offering sweeping views over the surrounding peaks and access to high-altitude alpine ski runs. Together, these areas form part of the Paradiski domain, linking La Plagne and Les Arcs across more than 425 km of pistes. Beyond winter sports, the region offers summer hiking trails with views over the Tarentaise valley. Montchavin retains a genuinely traditional character, away from the bustle of larger resorts, while still benefiting from close proximity to modern ski infrastructure. The alpine climate generally ensures reliable snow cover from December through April.
