Torreilles

Torreilles is a coastal town in Roussillon, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, just a few kilometres from Perpignan. It comprises a traditional village, with its church and quiet streets, and a seaside resort, Torreilles-Plage, featuring a long seafront along the Mediterranean. The fine sandy beach stretches for several kilometres, backed by dunes and a strip of pine trees, offering an unspoilt natural setting well suited to swimming and watersports such as sailing and kitesurfing, favoured by the Tramontane wind typical of the region. Camping is particularly well established here, with numerous sites located by the sea or nearby, making Torreilles-Plage a popular summer destination. The Mediterranean climate, warm and dry in season, encourages outdoor activities. The surrounding area makes it easy to visit Perpignan, Canet-en-Roussillon, the Salses lagoon, and the foothills of the Pyrenees. The wider Catalan region is also known for its cuisine, blending Mediterranean and Catalan influences, with fresh seafood and local vineyards.
