Belgodere

Belgodère is a hilltop village in the Balagne region of Haute-Corse, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Prato valley. Its inland location between Calvi and Île-Rousse makes it a convenient base for exploring this well-known stretch of Corsican coastline. Calvi, with its citadel and marina, and Île-Rousse, with its beaches and covered market, are both around a twenty-minute drive away, while Bastia can be reached for a day trip. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking, with trails winding through maquis scrubland and Balagne's hills, offering views out towards the Mediterranean. The nearby coast also lends itself to water sports, with sandy beaches and sheltered coves within easy reach. Locally and in neighbouring villages, traditional Corsican produce is readily available, including cured meats, cheeses and chestnut-based specialities, alongside artisanal ice cream popular during the summer months. The Mediterranean climate, hot and dry in summer and mild in winter, makes the area worth visiting year-round, though spring and autumn are particularly favourable for hiking.
