Baden

Baden is a commune in the Morbihan department of Brittany, set on the shores of the Gulf of Morbihan close to Vannes. The village and its coastal hamlets, including Toulindac and Larmor-Baden, retain a strong oyster-farming tradition, still visible along the quays and oyster beds. Île Berder, linked to the mainland by a causeway submerged at high tide, is a popular spot for coastal walks, offering fine views across the gulf. Nearby, the islet of Gavrinis houses a Neolithic cairn decorated with notable megalithic carvings, reachable by boat from Larmor-Baden. Thanks to its position at the heart of the gulf, Baden makes a convenient base for exploring the many surrounding islands and for water-based activities such as sailing, kayaking and jet-skiing, particularly towards the Rhuys peninsula and Arzon, where sailing conditions are well regarded. The area's mild oceanic climate supports a tourist season stretching from spring through autumn, with visitors drawn to coastal hikes, megalithic heritage sites and locally sourced seafood.
