Capbreton

Capbreton is a seaside resort on the Landes coast, known for its fishing and marina harbour as well as its iconic Estacade, a wooden pier popular with walkers and anglers. The town owes part of its reputation to the Gouf de Capbreton, an underwater canyon that comes unusually close to shore, supporting rich marine life and a still-active traditional fishing industry. Its Atlantic beaches attract many surfers thanks to consistent waves, particularly around the Santocha and Prévent breaks, in keeping with neighbouring Hossegor, an internationally renowned surfing destination. The town centre, bustling around the harbour and Boulevard des Océanides, offers shops, seafood restaurants and local markets. The surrounding pine forest, typical of the Landes region, provides routes for walking and cycling. The mild oceanic climate, pleasant for much of the year, encourages strong summer tourism but also draws visitors year-round who come for nature and water-based activities.
