Propriano

Propriano is a coastal town in southern Corsica, in the Corse-du-Sud department, situated on the shores of the Gulf of Valinco facing the Mediterranean Sea. Its marina, one of the busiest in the region, makes it a popular base for water sports and boat trips to nearby coves. The town has fine sandy beaches suitable for swimming, along with a seafront lined with restaurants serving fish and traditional Corsican specialities. Nearby, the prehistoric site of Filitosa, known for its standing stones, and the town of Sartène, often described as one of the island's most authentically Corsican towns, offer worthwhile cultural excursions within easy reach by car. The village of Campomoro, with its Genoese tower and nature reserve, adds further options for exploring the gulf. The Valinco area is also recognised for its wine production and artisanal cured meats. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, supports a seasonal tourism centred on the sea, hiking through the maquis scrubland, and discovering the surrounding historical heritage.
