Moliets

Moliets is a seaside resort on the Landes coast, right on the Atlantic Ocean, best known for the courant d'Huchet, a natural river winding through the forest down to the sea. This iconic spot is best explored aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat, gliding through marshland and dense vegetation to the river mouth, where visitors can walk along the sand to the water's edge. Many also wade across the current to reach the dune on the ocean side, a popular spot to watch the sunset, sometimes with a takeaway pizza in hand. The long, fine sandy beaches are ideal for walking and cycling, with dedicated cycle paths linking Moliets to nearby towns such as Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains, Messanges and Lac Léon. Day trips also make it easy to reach Bayonne or Hossegor, the latter well known for its surf scene. In the evening, the Place de la Bastide is a hub of local life, home to the Entre Amis pizzeria and an open bar serving cocktails at reduced prices during happy hour. Between pine forest, ocean and river, Moliets offers an unspoilt natural setting typical of the Landes coastline.
