Soulac-sur-Mer

Soulac-sur-Mer, a seaside resort on the Médoc peninsula in the Gironde department, stretches along a long sandy beach facing the Atlantic Ocean, just a few kilometres from the Pointe de Grave and the Gironde estuary. The town owes its reputation to its development in the late 19th century, when numerous Belle Époque villas were built, still visible today while strolling through the streets of old Soulac, with their ornate façades and leafy gardens. The lively town centre offers a variety of small shops as well as a market selling local Médoc produce. The Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-Fin-des-Terres, a Romanesque church listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela, is also a highlight not to be missed. The surrounding area, shaped by pine forests and an extensive network of cycling paths, invites visitors to explore both beach and nature. Local restaurants allow guests to enjoy regional cuisine after a day by the sea, in an atmosphere typical of coastal resorts along the Atlantic coast of Aquitaine.
