Porticcio

Porticcio is a seaside resort in south-western Corsica, set within the Gulf of Ajaccio, just a short distance by road or boat from the historic imperial city. The village is known for its long stretch of fine sandy beach, one of the most popular in the area, lapped by the turquoise waters typical of the Corsican coastline. It developed largely around summer tourism, with numerous residences, hotels and holiday rentals taking advantage of its close proximity to the sea. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy diving, sailing or kayaking, while the marina provides access to boat trips towards the Sanguinaires Islands or nearby coves. Local cuisine highlights Corsican specialities such as cured meats, brocciu cheese and fresh fish served in the seafront restaurants. The surrounding countryside offers maquis-covered hills and walking trails with open views over the gulf. Porticcio enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, making it well suited to seaside holidays from spring through to autumn.
