Ile d'Aix

The Île d'Aix, off the coast of Charente-Maritime, stands out for its unspoilt character: no private cars are allowed, so the island is best explored on foot or by bicycle. Just three kilometres long, it is reached by boat from Fouras or La Rochelle, with the crossing itself forming part of the experience.
