Val Thorens

Val Thorens, perched at over 2,300 metres above sea level in Savoie, is the highest ski resort in the Alps and forms part of the Three Valleys, the largest interconnected ski area in the world. Guaranteed snow cover and panoramic views over the surrounding peaks draw skiers and hikers alike, with ski touring a popular option when certain lifts are closed. Beyond skiing, the resort offers a wide range of activities: evening snowmobiling in the mountains, night-time snow tubing, paramotoring, a zip line (available in the mornings for around €25), and tobogganing on slopes, including the well-known Cosmojet run. Après-ski life centres around La Folie Douce, located right on the slopes, as well as altitude bars such as the 360, popular for their lively atmosphere at the end of the day. For dining, the restaurant La Chaumière is among the spots worth noting. A full tour of the Three Valleys also allows visitors to reach Courchevel and its shops. Val Thorens stands out for the sheer variety of its activities, both day and night, set within an unspoilt mountain landscape.
