St-Tropez

Saint-Tropez, on the peninsula of the same name in the Var department, owes its fame to its iconic harbour, its picturesque lanes and the particular atmosphere that settles in after dark, when the quaysides come alive and the colourful façades reflect on the water. The town, once a modest fishing village before becoming a sought-after resort, retains a distinctly Provençal charm, visible in its market, shaded squares and the citadel overlooking the bay. Further afield, the peninsula reveals wilder landscapes, particularly around Cap Taillat, a protected natural area reached on foot via the coastal path, prized for its fine sandy coves, turquoise waters and unspoiled scrubland. This contrast between lively town life and unspoilt nature is part of what defines the area: visitors can wander the buzzing streets in the evening, then head out the next day to quieter spots for walking or swimming. The Mediterranean climate, warm and sunny for much of the year, makes such outdoor pursuits especially enjoyable along this stretch of the Var coastline.
