Les 2 Alpes

Les 2 Alpes, in the Isère department, is a resort spread between 1,650 and 3,600 metres, linked to one of Europe's largest ski areas thanks to the glacier accessible via the Jandri Express cable car. Mornings are the best time to enjoy the quieter slopes at the top of the area before the crowds arrive later in the day. Both summer and winter offer plenty to do: glacier skiing, paragliding with views over the Alpine peaks, guided hikes organised through the local guides' office, summer tobogganing, mountain biking and swimming at the artificial lake. The ice cave, carved into the glacier, is a popular attraction, as is the village of Vénosc, reachable by gondola and known for its traditional architecture and picturesque lanes. Hikers can head to the Muzelle refuge, Lake Lauvitel or the Perrons area, all set within unspoilt high-mountain scenery. Winter evenings sometimes feature a torchlight descent followed by fireworks. For everyday shopping, the bakery du Blé au Pain, praised for the quality of its products, is conveniently located near the accommodation in the resort centre.
