Segre en anjou bleu

Segré-en-Anjou-Bleu is a merged municipality in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed by the union of several former communes around the town of Segré, within the natural region known as Anjou Bleu. The area takes its name from the numerous stretches of water found here, along with the River Oudon, which flows through the commune and shapes much of its landscape. Segré was historically a centre of slate quarrying, an industry that has left its mark on local architecture, particularly in the traditional slate roofing seen throughout the area. The commune retains a peaceful, rural character, with green spaces, riverside walking paths and a modest yet genuine built heritage that includes several old churches and traditional buildings. Segré's weekly market brings life to the town centre and remains a focal point for local residents. Located roughly thirty minutes from Angers, the area offers a quiet setting while remaining within easy reach of urban amenities. The surrounding countryside, with its bocage hedgerows and gentle valleys, is well suited to walking and cycling. The region's temperate oceanic climate makes it a pleasant destination for much of the year, particularly in spring and summer.
