Tournemire

Tournemire is a small village in the southern Aveyron département, set on the Causse du Larzac plateau just a few kilometres from Roquefort-sur-Soulzon and Millau. The village is overlooked by its medieval château, now privately owned, which reflects the area's feudal history. The surrounding landscape is typical of the Larzac karst region, with limestone plateaux, dry grasslands, stone walls and narrow valleys well suited to walking and nature watching. The nearby town of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon allows visitors to explore the famous Roquefort cheese ageing caves, a historic activity closely tied to local sheep farming. The Millau Viaduct and the Tarn Gorges, roughly thirty minutes away by car, offer further options for day trips in the area.
