Terranjou

Terranjou is a merged commune in the Maine-et-Loire department, in the Pays de la Loire region, formed in 2016 from several villages including Concourson-sur-Layon, Passavant-sur-Layon and Les Verchers-sur-Layon. It lies at the heart of the Anjou vineyards, within the Layon valley, well known for its sweet white wines and rolling vine-covered hillsides that shape the landscape. This predominantly rural area offers a peaceful setting, ideal for walks along the river and for discovering local heritage, including small churches and traditional Loire Valley stone buildings. Wine enthusiasts can visit family-run vineyards offering tastings and direct sales. The region enjoys a mild oceanic climate, well suited to outdoor pursuits for much of the year. Terranjou serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby Saumur, Angers and the Loire châteaux, while offering a tranquil environment typical of the Anjou countryside, away from urban bustle.
