Longue jumelles

Longué-Jumelles is a small town in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed by the merger of the former villages of Longué and Jumelles, in the Lathan valley, within the Pays de la Loire region. It lies just a few kilometres from Saumur and the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, making it a convenient and quieter base for exploring the area away from busier towns nearby. The surrounding countryside, shaped by farming and viticulture, offers a typical rural setting in the Saumur area, well suited to walking or cycling, including access to the Loire à Vélo cycle route. The mild oceanic climate allows outdoor activities for much of the year. Nearby attractions include troglodyte dwellings, tuffeau stone wine cellars, and Loire Valley châteaux such as those at Saumur or Montreuil-Bellay. The town itself remains modest in size, with local shops and a village atmosphere, making it a pleasant choice for a peaceful stay, whether for families or as a base for discovering the Loire heritage and surrounding vineyards.
