Cormot vauchignon

Cormot-Vauchignon is a small village in the Côte-d'Or department, set within the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, close to Nolay and around fifteen kilometres from Beaune. This rural hamlet lies amid a landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, woodland and limestone cliffs, typical of this part of Burgundy's wine country. The area is particularly known for the Cirque du Bout du Monde, a small natural rocky amphitheatre where a seasonal waterfall, fed by a karstic spring, cascades down the cliff face. The surrounding rock faces are popular with climbers, making Cormot-Vauchignon a notable spot for both hiking and rock climbing. The nearby combes and limestone plateaus also offer scenic walking trails typical of the Beaune hinterland. The village retains a quiet, rural character, with traditional stone-built Burgundian houses. The surrounding vineyards produce wines under the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune appellation, and wine enthusiasts can visit local estates for tastings. The proximity of Nolay, with its medieval covered market, and the Château de la Rochepot add further historical interest to this unassuming but appealing corner of the Côte-d'Or.
