Villeneuve en retz

Villeneuve-en-Retz is a commune in the Pays de Retz, in the Loire-Atlantique department, formed in 2019 through the merger of several villages around Bourgneuf-en-Retz. Just a few kilometres from the Atlantic coast and the Bay of Bourgneuf, it offers a setting that is both rural and maritime, shaped by salt marshes and wetlands typical of the Marais Breton. The village retains a quiet, unassuming character, with local shops and a weekly market. Pornic, around ten kilometres away, provides easy access to beaches, harbours and the lively atmosphere of the Côte de Jade. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking and cycling, with paths crossing the marshes and farmland nearby. The area is also known for sea salt production and livestock farming, reflecting a local economy closely tied to the land and water.
