Divatte sur loire

Divatte-sur-Loire is a town in the Loire-Atlantique department, formed in 2016 through the merger of the former communes of La Chapelle-Basse-Mer and Barbechat. It lies along the banks of the Loire, around twenty kilometres east of Nantes, at the heart of the Nantes vineyard region renowned for its Muscadet wine production. The area is crossed by the Divatte, a small tributary of the Loire that gave the town its name. The landscape, shaped by vine-covered hillsides and riverside scenery, appeals to those who enjoy walking or cycling, particularly along the Loire à Vélo cycle route that runs through the area. Its proximity to Nantes offers easy access to urban amenities while retaining a peaceful, rural setting. The villages that make up the commune preserve traditional regional architecture, featuring stone buildings and a few local religious landmarks. The mild oceanic climate, pleasant for much of the year, encourages outdoor activities. The wider region is also known for its vineyards open to visits and tastings, as well as for its local cuisine rooted in Loire Valley culinary traditions.
