Masevaux niederbruck

Masevaux-Niederbruck is a small town in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, formed by the merger of the villages of Masevaux and Niederbruck. It lies in the Doller valley, within the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, close to the Ballon d'Alsace summit. The town retains a notable religious heritage centred on its former Benedictine abbey, founded in the early Middle Ages, around which the settlement originally developed, along with a handful of old houses and a traditional Alsatian central square. The surrounding wooded, mountainous landscape makes the area well suited to hiking and cycling in summer, while nearby peaks such as the Ballon d'Alsace offer skiing and winter sports opportunities in season. The Doller valley is also known for a heritage steam railway connecting several neighbouring villages. In terms of local food, visitors can expect classic Alsatian fare such as sauerkraut, savoury tarts and farm produce. Set in a rural, mountainous setting around thirty kilometres from Mulhouse, Masevaux-Niederbruck makes a fitting base for nature-focused stays, walking holidays and exploring the Vosges heritage.
