Kaysersberg vignoble

Kaysersberg Vignoble is a commune in the Haut-Rhin department, formed by the merger of Kaysersberg, Kientzheim and Sigolsheim, set amid the Alsace vineyards along the Route des Vins d'Alsace. The medieval town of Kaysersberg, crossed by the River Weiss, is notable for its 16th-century fortified bridge, castle ruins overlooking the valley, and traditional half-timbered houses. The village is also known as the birthplace of Albert Schweitzer, whose childhood home now houses a small museum. Kientzheim, another village within the commune, retains its old ramparts and is home to the Confrérie Saint-Étienne, an organisation dedicated to Alsatian wine. The surrounding hillsides produce well-regarded wines, including the Schlossberg Grand Cru. The commune was voted the French people's favourite village in 2017, which has since boosted visitor numbers, particularly during the Christmas market season. The wider area offers pleasant walking through vineyards and the foothills of the Vosges, along with opportunities to explore Alsace's winemaking heritage through cellar visits and tastings with local producers.
