Ombree d anjou

Ombrée d'Anjou is a commune in the north-west of Maine-et-Loire, formed in 2016 through the merger of several villages including Pouancé, Combrée and Vritz. It lies within the area known as Anjou bleu, a name derived from the slate quarries that shaped the region's history, as well as the numerous lakes scattered across the countryside. The town of Pouancé retains a medieval castle, a remnant of the former border between Anjou and Brittany, along with old ramparts reflecting this borderland past. Nearby, the Sévailles lake provides a pleasant spot for swimming, fishing and lakeside walks. Sitting at the meeting point of Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne and Ille-et-Vilaine, the commune is known for its unspoilt rural character, hedgerowed farmland and paths well suited to walking and cycling. The mild oceanic climate makes it easy to enjoy the surrounding countryside for much of the year. It's a quiet destination, away from busy tourist routes, well suited to nature-focused stays with family or friends, while remaining within reach of livelier towns such as Angers or Rennes.
