Beaupreau en mauges

Beaupréau-en-Mauges is a merged commune in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed in 2016 from the union of several former villages including Beaupréau, Andrezé, Gesté, Jallais and Villedieu-la-Blouère. Set in the heart of the Mauges countryside between Cholet and Nantes, it enjoys a rolling rural landscape crossed by the Èvre river, whose wooded banks are popular for walks. The historic centre of Beaupréau retains a château overlooking the valley, along with religious and traditional buildings reflecting its past as a former sub-prefecture. The wider Mauges region, known for its hedgerowed farmland and long-standing agricultural and textile traditions, offers a peaceful countryside setting. Nearby, visitors can enjoy outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling and fishing, as well as browsing local markets selling regional Anjou produce. The proximity of the Nantes vineyards and the Loire valley opens up further options for day trips. Beaupréau-en-Mauges therefore makes a quiet base from which to explore the rural and natural heritage of western France, roughly midway between Nantes and Cholet.
